HISTORY
John Boyle O'Reilly, one of Ireland's most prominent writers and activists, was born in Netterville on June 18, 1844.

Through his editorship of The Pilot, prolific writing, and lecture tours, O'Reilly became a famous advocate for Irish sentiments and culture. Many renowned dignitaries and politicians, notably President John F. Kennedy, have quoted him. There are several sections on the grounds of Netterville Manor devoted to his memory and efforts.

GARDENS AND GROUNDS
The property is entered via a private driveway which sweeps past paddocks and eventually culminates in a turning circle to a parking area with ample space. The tarmac drive is bordered with ornate iron railings and leads also to the gardens.

Stone steps lead down to cobble blocked paths winding through the manicured gardens. The rambling lawns are surrounded by a Victorian Wall and gift a truly private oasis within its boundaries. The ornate sculptures including a 6 pillared bandstand and Georgian-esque archway are truly special and give a sense of regality through-out. An extensive pond boasting a water feature is a focal point of the garden, with a footbridge at its centre.

There are some 100 acres of arable lands with the remaining lands a mix of parkland and mature woodland rolling down to the banks of the River Boyne.
