Larkspur

The town of Larkspur, California, is a treasure among all of the fine Marin County locations. North of San Francisco, the town was laid out by Charles W. Wright in 1887 and has since became a popular vacation destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

A typical turn-of-the-century town, downtown Larkspur was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and is replete with numerous historic buildings including the Blue Rock Inn and the newly-restored Lark Theatre, a recently renovated Art Deco movie house built in 1936. The town is full of quaint coffeehouses and some of the finest retail shops this side of San Francisco. Fine dining options in Larkspur are plentiful and include the world-famous restaurant The Tavern at Lark Creek, which sits nestled in a redwood grove beside a creek just outside of the downtown area.

With its proximity to Mount Tamalpais, Larkspur is a haven for outdoor activities. Enjoy the lush redwood groves, splendid waterways, and beautiful rock formations and the many parks which provide recreational areas for picnic and other outdoor activities.

Larkspur is the location for one of Golden Gate Transit's ferry portals and has a ridership of over 6,000 per day on average. There is direct ferry service from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal to AT&T Park (home of the San Francisco Giants).
