Nicknamed the “Jewel Of The Jersey Shore,” Spring Lake is known for its uncluttered, sandy beach, historic Victorian inns and homes, quaint downtown boutiques with shopping and restaurants, and its two-mile, non-commercial boardwalk alongside the Atlantic Ocean.

Just 65 miles to Manhattan, Spring Lake is both a year-round community and a popular summer tourist destination that was formed by the merger of four towns in 1903. Named for the lake at its center, visitors have been attracted to its tree-lined streets, lush lawns, many fine boutiques and restaurants, and close proximity to the ocean for more than a century.

There’s plenty to keep you busy in Spring Lake throughout the year. The Spring Lake Theatre Company, located in the Spring Lake Community House, offers a full calendar of performances. It is also home to a dance school and theatre workshop.

The Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club was established in 1898 and features 10 Har-tru tennis courts, private access to the beach and ocean, plus a large saltwater swimming pool.

Stroll around town to appreciate the historic hotels, inns and B&Bs that have made Spring Lake such a well-loved weekend destination. The Breakers is probably its most recognized address and the only oceanfront full service hotel in town. The Normandy Inn and the Ocean House also enjoy a long history of thoughtful accommodation to visitors.

Spring Lake’s school district consists of the K-8 HW Mountz School, while high school students attend nearby Manasquan High School.

Commuting to New York is easy, either via rail with NJ Transit stopping right in town, or by car via the nearby Garden State Parkway. Newark Airport is also easily accessible.

Offering a quiet life by the beach, there’s so much to love about Spring Lake. Asked of famous long-time resident and mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark to list the negatives about life here, she responded, “There aren’t any.” Welcome to the Jewel of the Jersey Shore!
